1. You need to have something strong around you to protect you from falling objects. 你需要周围有坚固的东西来保护你免受下落物体的伤害。

protect…from (doing) sth.意为“使……免于；保护……不受侵害”。

You can wear a hat to protect you from the sun. 你可以戴一顶帽子保护你不受太阳的照射。

Trees protect the water and the land from running away. 树保护水土流失。

2. If you are close to the sea, try to get as far away from the water as possible. 如果你在海边，离大海越远越好。

1）be close to意为“（在空间、时间上）接近”，当后面跟人时表示“与某人亲近”。stay away from意为“远离”。

2）as…as possible，相当于as…as one can (could)，意为“尽可能……”，两个as中间用形容词或副词的原级。
